Prior to Ranked Season One, we had limited information and only assumptions we could work with via Quick Match. Now that we’ve completed Season One and had the chance to study 1v1 Ranked player behavior, we have a better sense of some changes we’d like to make starting in Season Two. Please note that our Ranked structure will likely evolve over time, and we are interested in your continued feedback in this space!
What are the high-level changes being made to Season Two?
- Rank Distribution is being reevaluated to balance the average rank around Gold
- Season Points will now more closely reflect your Elo
- In certain scenarios, matchmaking could feel unfair because of a disparity in Ranks (i.e. a Gold versus a Diamond ranked player). In some cases, the players' Elos were close together and indicated a fair match, but the Rank of each player was giving the impression that this was not the case. We have tuned Season Points to have a closer relationship to your Elo, so you can better judge an opponent's skill based on their Rank!
- Balanced the amount of Season Points gained if a player of a much higher Rank defeats a player in a much lower Rank (e.g. Conqueror vs. Low Diamond player)
