What Xbox versions are supported?

Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition is available on Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. The game can also be played via Cloud gaming devices that allow for controller input.

Are there hardware restrictions?

Xbox Series X|S allows for up to 8-player matches, whereas Xbox One devices allow for 4-player matches on small map sizes.

Are the controls the same as Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition for Xbox and PlayStation?

Can I use a keyboard and mouse with the console versions? Do I have to use a controller?

Players on Xbox and PlayStation 5 devices can use a controller, or mouse and keyboard.

I bought the game on Xbox, do I also receive it on PC?

Yes! If you purchase Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition from your Xbox console, you will also receive the entitlement for the Xbox on PC version of the game.

I’ve played the game previously on PC. Will my campaign progression and Achievements transfer to my Xbox?

So long as you are playing with the same Xbox account, your campaign progression and Achievements will remain linked to that account. Note that mid-mission campaign and skirmish games will not follow you between devices.

Will my campaign progression and Achievements transfer to my PS5 if I've previously played on PC?

We understand how important your progress, achievements and trophies are, but unfortunately, they won't transfer between platforms.

Will there be separate Ranked ladders for console?

Will the Content Editor be available?

The Content Editor is only available on PC. While User Generated Content (UGC) can only be made via the Content Editor on PC, created Mods will be downloadable on Xbox and PlayStation Console.
