Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
- Navigate to either the Age Of Empires II: Definitive Edition Global Stats page or the My Stats page.
- If you are looking for a match from a user that you do not have a match history with, search for their username under the Global Stats > Leaderboards page.
- Locate the match you want to download the Replay File for under the Recent Matches category which is towards the bottom of the players profile page and click on it.
- A window will pop up showing all the participants in the match.
- Click on the Film Strip Play Button beside the players username to start downloading the Replay File.
- Unzip the Replay File folder and copy the .aoe2record file.
- Launch Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.
- Click the Single Player button on the title screen, Replays and then choose Load Game.
- Click the Open Saved Games Folder button which will automatically open an explorer menu.
- Paste the .aoe2record file you downloaded into this folder.
- Back in the game and the replay file should now show up there.
- In some cases you may need to exit back to the main menu before it will show up.
Note: Replays created in an older version of the game than you're running may not load successfully.
Age of Empires IV
Please note that this process can only be performed with a Steam version of the game.
- Navigate to the Age of Empires IV Leaderboards or the My Stats page.
- If you are looking for a match from a user that you do not have a match history with, search for their username under the Global Stats > Leaderboards page
- Locate the match you want to download the Replay File for under the Game Stats category which is towards the bottom of the players profile page and click on it.
- A window will pop up showing all the participants in the match.
- Click on the Film Strip Play Button beside the players username to start downloading the Replay File.
- If you do not see the Film Strip Play Button beside the players username, then that most likely means that they do not have Share History enabled in game for their Match History.
- Unzip the Replay File folder.
- Filename should look like AgeIV_Replay_########## where the #s are the Match Id.
- Copy the file to the playback folder: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires IV\playback
- In your Steam Library, right click on Age of Empires IV and select Properties.
- In the General tab under Launch Options, add: -dev -replay playback:AgeIV_Replay_#########
- Close the Properties window and launch the game.
- Upon launch, you should be taken directly into the replay file you downloaded.
- You may recieve an "Account Authentication" error while the replay file loads. If you encounter this press OK to dismiss the error message.
- Once you are done viewing the replay file make sure you navigate back to your Steam Library, right click on Age of Empires IV and select Properties and clear out the -dev -replay playback:AgeIV_Replay_#########
If the replay fails to load, check the warnings.log in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires IV\ and look for any error messages related to the replay.
Note: If your game version doesn't match the one the replay was created under, it may not load.
Age of Mythology: Retold
- Navigate to the Age of Mythology: Retold Leaderboards or the My Stats page.
- If you are looking for a match from a user that you do not have a match history with, search for their username under the Global Stats > Leaderboards page
- Locate the match you want to download the Replay File for under the Game Stats category which is towards the bottom of the players profile page and click on it.
- A window will pop up showing all the participants in the match.
- Click on the Film Strip Play Button beside the players username to start downloading the Replay File.
- Unzip the Replay File folder.
- Copy the downloaded Replay file and paste it into the replays directory. The default location for Steam users is: C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\Games\Age of Mythology Retold\%SteamID%\replays
- Launch Age of Mythology: Retold
- Click the Replays button on the title screen.
- Select the Replay file you added to the replays directory and click open.
Note: Replays created in an older version of the game than you're running may not load successfully.
