Below is a list of known issues we are tracking for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. Note that this is not a comprehensive list; we will continue to update it with new issues as they are reported and fixed, will only include the most visible or disruptive issues that prevent you from enjoying the game, and will never include exploits that could be leveraged to gain an unfair advantage over other players.

|Game Performance||Game Crashes||
Though sporadic, we have received reports of game crashes occurring at different times, based on different factors, or with different symptoms. As they can be caused by any number of factors, we recommend working through the troubleshooting and game optimization steps in the following guides:

|Mods||Mods disappear from in-game subscription list.||
Some players have noted that content mods seem to disappear from their in-game mods list.
We are investigating a permanent fix for this issue.
|Gameplay||Gates can be permanently locked open.||We are currently investigating this issue to reproduce and implement a fix. We believe it may be caused by scale or game performance.||Tracking||Feb.25, 2020|
|Mods||Audio mods only apply after a game restart.||This will impact our festival mods and any audio modding. You will need to subscribe and download the mod, then re-launch the client for it to work.||Tracking||Feb.25, 2020|
|AI||All selected units may get stuck in on a crowd and not make it to a destination, even if some of them have an open path.||This might be linked to a bug where groups of units will disperse when another group attempts to walk thru them. We are continuing to investigate!||Tracking||Feb.25, 2020|

|Visual||Hero unit glow (and other visual effects) can disappear when too many units are visible on screen.||While this was partially fixed in the July update, there is still an issue where the hero glow, blood, and other visual effects can disappear in large-scale battles.
