Below is a list of known issues we are tracking for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition. Note that this is not a comprehensive list; we will continue to update it with new issues as they are reported and fixed, will only include the most visible or disruptive issues that prevent you from enjoying the game, and will never include exploits that could be leveraged to gain an unfair advantage over other players.
If you encounter a bug that is not listed below, take a moment to contact our Support team or visit the official Age of Empires forum and report the problem:
- Visit the official Age of Empires Forum.
- Click 'Report a Bug' in the Age of Empires III category.
- ALWAYS search the sub-forum for similar issues before creating a new post.
- If the issue has already been reported, add a comment to the existing thread.
- If the issue has not been reported, start a new thread.
- Read up on How to Report a Bug or Exploit to make sure you have everything you need to post about an issue.

Issues have been marked with a status that best represents their current state:

A tracked bug means that it has been reproduced by our test team. The team now has to determine whether and how they solve the issue: whether it requires a fix, a change to the design or code of the game, or if there are other solutions that need to be considered.

Once a fix has been identified, it needs to be tested and packaged with a game update. Note that this is not always the very next update: a fix may be held for additional testing or to be paired with other similar fixes.

| New domain name update may cause issues with strict firewalls or other types of security |

An update to the domain name could cause a disconnect or an inability to access multiplayer services after a few seconds. Players may also receive the following error message: “Unable to connect to online services, extended error. Please try again later.” This could indicate an issue with stricter firewall setting or other types of security. If this is occurring due to strict firewalls, add URL aoe3-api.ageofempires.com to the allowlist to address the issue. An alternative solution could be to try connecting through a VPN. We are aware of the problem and are actively working on a fix. If you continue to experience issues or have questions, please contact our Support team. |
