Overview
Groups and Transformers offer an alternate way to organize assets into defined groups so they are easier to find, select, and modify.
This allows you to add a group of objects together, often used in conjunction with a Randomizer, to create quickly place-able selections of objects such as campsites, groves of bushes, or small outposts.
These assets can both be found in the Object Browser and dragged onto the map.
Groups
Groups allow you to organize any number of assets under a single group in the Scenario Tree, allowing you to find and select the group of assets more easily, as well as cleaning up the general organization of your Scenario Tree and changing their Properties as if they were one object.
Create a Group
To create a Group, find the Group entity in the Object Browser and drag it onto the Scenario Tree.
Assets can then be moved into the new group within the Scenario Tree, either from the Scenario Tree itself or from the Object Browser.
Groups in the Scenario Tree
In the Scenario Tree, Groups display all assets within them in a list beneath the Group's name.
Selecting the group will select all objects in the group.
When a Group is selected, the center pivot of a group will always be at the relative center of all assets of the group.
If the assets position change or if other assets are added, the center pivot will reposition at the new center.
Group Properties
Groups possess a number of unique properties when selected.
- Comment: Allows you to add a comment to your group. Visible to anyone working in the editor.
- Compound: Will make the group selectable as a group in the render view and not select individual assets.
- Display Name: Can be used to rename your group. If left empty the group will show up as "group" in the Scenario Tree.
- Locked: Cannot be edited if locked.
- Visible: Can be seen in editor if visible.
Transformers
Similar to a Group, a Transformer contains a number of assets under the same grouped transformer node.
The main difference is that a Transformer will be the parent of the assets and can be saved as a Stamp, allowing you to copy, save, and paste the contents of the Transformer as a single entity.
Create a Transformer
To create a Transformer, find it in the Object Browser and drag it onto your map in the Render View.
Assets can then be moved into the new transformer within the Scenario Tree, either from the Scenario Tree itself or from the Object Browser.
In the Scenario Tree, a transform acts similarly to any other asset, except it can contain multiple assets underneath it that can be modified all at once.
When a Transformer is selected, the center pivot point serves as the reference for where all other objects within the transformer will be placed. This causes any prop under a transformer to have its position decided relative to the transformer's position rather than the object's position in the world.
