When does the Free Weekend start and end?
- For Steam users, the Free Weekend event starts on April 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM PT and will last until April 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM PT
- Xbox and Microsoft Store users will be able to access the Free Weekend starting on April 23, 2026 at 12:00 PM PT and will end on April 27, 2026 at 2:00 AM PT
What platforms are available for the Free Weekend?
Age of Mythology: Retold will be available to play during the Free Weekend on Steam, Xbox consoles, and the Microsoft Store only.
How do I download the game?
Xbox / Microsoft Store
- On your Xbox console, open the guide, then go to Store > Home > Subscriptions.
- Scroll down to Free Play Days to view the current collection.
- Select Age of Mythology: Retold, then choose Install (or the free trial option shown) to download.
- Launch the game once it finishes installing.
Steam
- Open Steam and search for Age of Mythology: Retold.
- On the store page during the event, click the option to play for free (Free Weekend).
- Install and launch the game from your Library.
What's included during the Free Weekend?
During the Free Weekend, Age of Mythology: Retold is temporarily unlocked so you can play the Standard Edition version of the game.
- Do I get to access Premium Edition content or any of the available DLC's including the recently released Obsidian Mirror?
- Free Weekend access is for the Standard Edition only. Any additional add-ons, packs, or Premium Edition content will need to be purchased to access it.
- Can I play multiplayer?
- Yes! Multiplayer access is available for the Free Weekend event.
Do I get to keep the game after the Free Weekend ends?
No. The Free Weekend provides temporary access only. Once the event ends, you'll need to purchase Age of Mythology: Retold to continue playing.
Will my progress carry over if I buy the game?
Yes. If you decide to purchase the game after the Free Weekend ends, you can continue playing from where you left off. On Xbox Free Play Days events, any progress you make and any DLC you purchase during the event carries over after you buy the game.
