- Close Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
- Log out of your Microsoft Store account
- Restart your PC
- Log back into your Microsoft account
- Open the game and see if the error continues
🛠 Steam
- Launch Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
- Select your Xbox profile icon in the top right of the home menu and log out / unlink your Xbox profile
- Close Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
- Verify the game files in Steam
- Restart Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and relink your Xbox profile
