Age of Mythology: Retold Known Issues & Solutions

We are aware of an issue where every time Age of Mythology: Retold is relaunched, player's Microsoft Accounts are unlinked and they are prompted to relink it. Some players may encounter an error message when trying to relink, but it should go away after a few attempts.

If you encounter this issue, please reach out to Customer Support and provide details on which platform you've encountered this issue on as well as your PSN username or Steam ID.

In some instances players have reported that the Daily Celestial Challenge card does not properly track the 5th win, and player may not get awarded for that entry. The team is currently looking into this issue. If this is happening to you, please reach out to Customer Support and provide details on which platform you've encountered this issue on as well as your gamertag, PSN username or Steam ID.

If you’re using Bluetooth headphones with a built-in microphone, you may experience extremely low-quality music audio during gameplay. The sound may crackle or become distorted, resulting in an unpleasant listening experience.

When playing the game on Steam Deck, the option to Sign into Xbox Network does not work, and the window never opens up. 

After signing into / linking an Xbox account on Steam, the previously earned Xbox progress on Campaigns, Achievements, or the Friends list will not transfer over

While spectating an MP match, the pause menu displays a non functional “open chat” option that should not be present. 

After spectating an MP match, the postgame menu displays a non functional “Good Game” option. Clicking it does nothing.

After spectating an MP match, the postgame menu dropdown for “View Gamer Card, Block and Report” are present but not functional.

While spectating a match, if one player begins building a market and the spectator highlights it, it may show as "Bear" owned by "Mother Nature" instead of as the Market being built by a player

When Cross-network is disabled on Xbox Account settings, it hides Steam's Friend list once the game has been restarted.

When cross-network is disabled in the in-game settings it hides Xbox and Microsoft Store friends on friends list once the game has been restarted.

Clicking game ID links for Microsoft Store users will not launch the game. When a player sends the game ID link to another player, they will have to have the game already opened in order to join a lobby via Game ID link.

Players may be inaccurately shown as "Offline" in social panels such as Friends List, Clans, Last Played, etc.

Some players may encounter an issue where the game fails to launch after pressing Play. For this issue, we recommend players try the steps detailed in our support article linked below:

If the issue continues, please contact Customer Support and provide them with your DxDiag and Crash Logs.

PS5 players have reported experiencing issues such as freezing and stuttering throughout various parts of the game. To assist us in resolving these problems, we kindly ask you to share a short video showcasing the issue or, if possible, provide answers to the following questions:

• Is the game stuttering, encountering an FPS drop, freezing, or some other performance issue?
• How frequently is the issue occurring?
• Does the game crash at any point?
• Does this occur on a specific campaign mission and if so when?
  • Are you loading from a previous save?
• If the issue is occurring in Skirmish what maps and civilization appear to be triggering this the most?
• What God Powers are being used?
• What AI difficulty is on when the performance problems start?
• Are your setting currently set up for improved performance or do you have it set to graphic quality instead?
• Are you using a controller or a Keyboard & Mouse set up?
• Are there any non-default game settings being used?

When joining a hosted game with a custom scenario, players on PS5 may encounter missing or black textures.

Through internal testing and reports from other players, we believe the issue affecting Xbox and Windows users accessing Immortal Pillars to be resolved.
