This error message is usually attributed to an error or issue with your Microsoft Store installation. There are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to try and address the problem:
đź› Launch app from the Library page
- From the Microsoft Store app, navigate to Library in the lower left hand corner
- Select the Games tab
- Locate the game from the list of applications and click Open
đź› Pin & Launch app through the Taskbar
- Click the ellipses (...) near the Open button on the Microsoft Store page
- From the popup, select Pin to Taskbar
- Click on the app Icon that is now in the Taskbar.Â
đź› Check for pending Windows updates.
Verify that there are not any pending Windows updates. While you may be on an up-to-date version of the OS, there may be essential application updates waiting to install. Be sure to restart your device after installing any updates.
đź› Update Microsoft Gaming Services
Check for updates to the Microsoft Gaming Services in the Downloads section of the Microsoft Store.

đź› Confirm Windows Display Language & Microsoft Apps Language Settings are the same.
- Open the Start Menu
- Click on Settings (gear icon)
- Navigate to Time & Language > Language
- Confirm that the language listed under "Windows Display Language" (which changes PC settings) matches the same language listed under "Preferred Languages" (which changes apps and website defaults)
You might need to further adjust the default languages on your Microsoft account preferences:
- Login to your Microsoft Account profile: https://account.microsoft.com/profile
- Go to Your Info
- Scroll down to Language Info
- Make sure the settings here match the settings in Windows
đź› Confirm that Windows Time is Set to the Appropriate Region & Time Zone
In some instances, if your Windows Time is not accurately set to your current region and time zone, the game may have trouble communicating with the server for updates.
- Type “region settings” into the Windows Search Bar and click Enter
- Check that the region listed under the country & region dropdown is accurate
- Click Date & Time from the left-side navigation menu
- Check that your time zone is correctly listed from the dropdown menu
- Under Synchronize your Clock click Sync Now
- Restart your machine
- Launch the game

- Press the Windows Key + R keys
- Type powershell, then select Run as Administrator and press Enter.
- Enter this command on the PowerShell and press enter:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
4. Restart and check if the issue persists.
đź› Restart your machine multiple times.
It may take several restarts to finish identifying and installing a critical update. Try restarting your machine to recognize any new or missing updates.
