Overview
When the Steam FPS counter is turned on, this can create a graphical overlay issue which can obscure parts of the Age of Empires IV Content Editor's interface.
These effects are even more apparent on a 4k monitor.
To address this, we recommend turning the Steam FPS counter off both in Steam and in the Content Editor itself before using the Content Editor.
These steps are detailed below.
Turning off the FPS Counter in Steam
To turn off the FPS counter in Steam, first Navigate to: Steam > Settings > In-Game
You will then be able to see both the Steam Overlay settings and the FPS Counter settings.
Perform both of the following:
- Un-Check Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game.
- Set the In-game FPS Counter setting to "Off."
Turning off the FPS Counter in the Editor
Once the FPS counter is disabled in Steam, you must then also disable it in the Content Editor.
Right-Click on the Age of Empires IV Content Editor and select Properties.
From here you will find the Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game setting.
Un-check this box to disable the overlay.
Ready to Go
Your overlay is now disabled.
You are ready to start the Content Editor and will no longer see the overlay interfering with your interface.
